be patient with me
by: allison ryder

staring at her reflection as she speaks,
validating each word in her mind.
the true change of perspective
and self-reflection,
admitting the truth always known within-
changes that look in her eyes.
it changed her life and the way she lived.
she stopped the overflow of apologizes,
when her wrong was being flawed.
she stopped trying too hard when
she didn’t need to try at all.
she reflected pure beauty
inside and out. there existed no ugly
in her world for she could make everything beautiful.
she believed in each word she spoke,
she wore her heart on her sleeve without fear.
she didn’t cringe at heart ripping pain,
she embraced it,
for it meant she was taking the chance so many pass up.
be patient with me.
she whispered and hung up the phone.
