they swallow clocks
to find their courage-
tick. tick. tick.
time bomb.
not fear of what’s within
the unknown – fear
of the what if’s before
entering. unanswered
questions, things they
still want to do.
they swallow clocks
to stop time.
we become corrupt with
our own lives. time passes,
unnoticed, until they run out.
until the sand stops falling,
until death comes around
the corner, until they can’t
get a moment back.
so they swallow clocks
so they don’t explode,
like dynamite.
instead, they implode.
time doesn’t freeze.
it stands still for them,
but not for us.
